Given the freedom to express, an artist can paint a picture with a thousand words , a photographer however can capture a moment in time leaving you speechless. Vancouver’s Sarah Hamilton captures these moments daily.  In a 10-year span – Sarah has enveloped her surroundings and has the visual documentation to prove it.

Her captivating pictorials of Vancouver’s notorious downtown eastside has intrigued the most critical of critics , Ms. Hamilton’s ability to become one with these gritty streets have enabled her talents to be witnessed in the world of live performance as well, shooting major label artists that include Stephen and, Ky-Mani Marley, DJ Shadow & Kut Khemist, Deftones, Fishbone, Perry Farrell, Metric, Sum 41, M.I.A. , Wyclef, her exclusive photo coverage of the Virgin Music Festival (Vancouver) and more.

Sarah has recently returned from a 3 month, 43 country world tour, as the official tour photographer for L.A.’s ‘HORSE the Band’, and upon arriving back home, she slides back into her prior position as Senior Photographer for ABORT Magazine, Canada’s Counter Culture Mag, where she heads up the Tales From The Eastside column. Her work is also featured in over a dozen episodes of ABORT TV.

Her commercial work extends far beyond driven and can be seen in print publications, to band press kits and album covers, to Vancouver Galleries and exhibits.

Sarah Hamilton has indeed succeed beyond her expectations, and rightfully so.  Her mark on Canadian photography has been felt by many through her indelible photos and her devotion to the art is more than admirable.
